A Winter Quotation by Henry David Thoreau

I came across this quote today while looking for another one. It made me almost nostaligic about winter time, even though I am hoping it will end soon.

In winter we lead a more inward life.
Our hearts are warm and cheery, like cottages under drifts whose windows and doors are half concealed but from whose chimneys smoke cheerfully ascends.
Henry David Thoreau

Lovely--yet, I am find Thoreau rather an odd duck, but perhaps I just had to know him. He was quite social person.

I know -- he was an odd duck, but brilliant. I had a pretty severe crush on him in high school, you know. He was also quite homely, I guess. Louisa May Alcott once said that his facial and neck hair would preserve his vitue in perpetuity.

I love that you commented to my comment. That remark by LMA was a hoot. Also, I apologize for the errors. I get in a hurry. Three novels. I do not have that type of talent. But, teaching is really getting to be heartbreaking. I must find something, too.
